DIY Camera Strap Cover

Hey everyone!  So here is the written tutorial for the camera strap cover.

It took me about 45 mins or so.  Now mine is NOT completely finished.  I have two more things to add if I can find exactly what I want :)

So the materials I used were:

*Scrap fabric & old pocket
*Thread
*Pins
*Scissors
*Hot glue gun
*Quilt batting

Now this is going to be a camera strap cover w/ a pocket.  You don't have to do the pocket, but I'm ALWAYS loosing my lens cap!!  So I really needed it.  I did not use a pattern.  I do however have a Nikon dslr.  It came with a general strap that they all come with.  If you want to make this cover pretty plain jane, but would like it stylish.... you could just make it longer and the middle wider.  It will give it more of a scarf look.  But for this tutorial, I'll just show you how I did it and you can tailor it to what works best for you.

Here are the steps: (Shown below)

1:  I chose some random men's button ups for scraps.  They had a pattern and colors I liked and needed. Most covers will have to be made w/ a men's large or XL.  Anything else may be too short.

2:  Cut the main fabric.  Mine I made a bit wider than the strap because the lens cap is wider.  I cut it 42" long and 5" wide.

3:  Cut the pocket out.  You can make your own, but I didn't want to waste more time.  Besides, I have a LOT of pockets cut out :)

4:  Cut pocket the width of the material when it's folded in half.

5:  Make sure that you sew the bottom of the pocket first.  Do NOT sew anything else until that's done.

6:  Make sure you hem up both ends of the main material

7:  Cut another peice of scrap fabric the same as the main.  This will be the inside.  Also, I used batting to make it more padded.  I have to be comfy for work :)  So I lay the main fabric face up.  Putting the batting down half, and then the "interior fabric" face up.

8:  Fold in half, pin, and sew!

9:  Turn inside out and iron flat.  You should iron before you start cutting, pinning, and sewing- but I forgot. Happens all the time.

10:  Make sure that your lens cap fits.  It can't be too wide or it will fall out.

11:  Add pretties to it!  I made 2 no-sew flowers.  There are a lot of great flowers and rosettes to make on Pinterest.  I hot glued them and attached them the same way!  Easy Peasy!!!

12:  Slip your original strap through, attach back to camera body, and TA-DA!!  ALL DONE!!

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll try to answer them :)  1st KMP DIY tutorial!  I feel like it went well!  Thank you all!
